It's a Long Way From Tipperary: Life in the Trenches (1914-1918)
The New Curiosity Shop, a college of online learning, launches a new online course which explores life in the trenches for the ordinary British infantryman during the First World War (1914-1918).
Edinburgh, Scotland (PRWeb) November 8, 2006 -- The New Curiosity Shop launches a new online course about life in the trenches for the ordinary British infantryman during the First World War (1914-1918).
This course looks at the history of the First World War through the eyes of the ordinary British fighting soldier, and the student will learn about trench routine during a typical day on the front line. It will explore food, rest and relaxation, morale and a range of other themes that will help you understand what life was like for an ordinary British infantryman in the trenches.
The course features a wealth of resources including audio interviews with former soldiers talking of their experience.
Noel Chidwick, Partner of the New Curiosity Shop, says: "we are very excited about "Life in the Trenches". It shows how a course, complete with full support from the tutor/writer, can really bring to life an experience that very few people now living in the UK have had to endure".
The course covers:
The structure of the British Infantry Division on the Western Front
Recruitment and Enlistment
Clothing
Personal Weapons
The Trench System
Trench Life
And is available from the 15th November 2006.

Our reach is world wide: in the short time we have been operational we have had students from the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and mainland Europe, and we have tutors in Scotland, Wales, England, Italy, France and USA. It's online learning for grown-ups.
